Configuring user locations

If you wish, you can include your users’ locations in your analytics data by integrating with MaxMind, a self-hosted geolocation database. This also enables the Visitor Locations map in the Analytics Dashboard. There is no cost for this service, and the database takes up minimal storage (around 60MB).

Navigate to Settings → GeoIP to get started.

  1. Click Get free credentials, or follow this link.
  2. Create your MaxMind account (make sure you are registering for the free GeoLite version).
  3. When you create your License Key, return to the GeoIP tab and enter the Account ID and License Key in the relevant fields.
  4. Optionally, choose if you want to download the database every week to keep it up-to-date.
  5. Hit Save Settings.
  6. Hit Download Database. This connects to the MaxMind service and downloads the database to your Etiquetta instance.

You will now see visitor location overview data in your Dashboard.
